Aim:
To provide a national plant variety protection System
Functions:
- To provide a plant variety evaluation and registration service in terms of the Plant Breeder’s Rights Act, 1976 (Act no. 15 of 1976)
- To manage the plant variety listing system.
- To manage the granting of Plant Breeder’s Rights.
- To develop norms and standards, and procedures for plant variety evaluations.
- To facilitate information management on plant variety protection.
